Effective Date: May 28, 2026
Guest safety comes first. Englewood Jet Ski may delay, reroute, shorten, reschedule, or cancel any rental, guided ride, or tour when weather, water, visibility, marine traffic, or local conditions create a safety concern.
Weather decisions are made by Englewood Jet Ski based on real-time local conditions, radar, lightning risk, wind, water conditions, visibility, guide judgment, and safe operating requirements. The weather at the launch area may be different from the weather at a hotel, vacation rental, beach, or another nearby town.
1. Safety Comes First
Jet ski rentals and tours take place in an outdoor marine environment. Conditions can change quickly on the water. Englewood Jet Ski reserves the right to make final weather-related safety decisions before departure or during a ride.
Weather-related safety decisions may be made because of:
- Lightning or thunder in the area.
- Thunderstorms, heavy rain, or rapidly developing storm cells.
- High wind, rough water, unsafe chop, strong current, or poor visibility.
- Tropical weather, hurricane-related conditions, or official marine weather alerts.
- Unsafe marine traffic, emergency activity, law enforcement activity, or restricted waterway access.
- Any condition that makes the ride unsafe for guests, staff, equipment, wildlife, or other waterway users.
2. Light Rain Does Not Always Cancel a Ride
Light rain alone does not automatically cancel a rental or tour. If there is no lightning, no unsafe wind, no dangerous water condition, and visibility remains acceptable, Englewood Jet Ski may continue operating.
- Guests should be prepared to get wet during any jet ski ride.
- Light rain may occur before, during, or after a scheduled ride.
- Englewood Jet Ski may adjust the route, speed, timing, or ride area when light rain is present.
- If conditions remain safe and the ride is available, standard cancellation and no-show rules still apply.
3. Lightning and Thunder Policy
Lightning is treated as a serious safety risk. If thunder is heard, lightning is seen, or lightning is detected within an unsafe range, Englewood Jet Ski may pause operations, bring riders back, delay departure, or cancel the ride.
- Guests may not remain on the water during unsafe lightning conditions.
- Guests must follow staff or guide instructions immediately when weather changes.
- Operations may remain paused until at least 30 minutes after the last thunder or lightning risk.
- Englewood Jet Ski may extend the delay if radar, storm movement, visibility, or local conditions remain unsafe.
If lightning or thunder occurs during a ride, guests must reduce speed, follow the guide or staff instructions, and return to the designated safe area as directed.
4. Wind, Rough Water, and Visibility
Wind and water conditions can affect steering, stopping distance, balance, comfort, route safety, and rescue response time. Englewood Jet Ski may limit or cancel rides when wind, waves, chop, current, or visibility make operation unsafe.
Examples include:
- Water conditions that are too rough for the scheduled rental or tour.
- Wind that makes it difficult for guests to safely control the jet ski.
- Visibility that makes it difficult to see markers, boats, docks, wildlife, or other riders.
- Conditions that are unsuitable for beginner riders, children, families, or guided routes.
- Conditions that prevent safe return to the launch area.
5. Sunset, Daylight, and Legal Operating Window
Personal watercraft may not be operated from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise. All rentals and tours must stay within the legal operating window.
- Sunset rides may be adjusted based on daylight, weather, visibility, and safe return time.
- Late arrivals may lose ride time if there is not enough daylight remaining.
- Englewood Jet Ski may shorten, delay, or reschedule a ride when daylight or visibility creates a safety concern.
- No guest may continue riding after staff or a guide has ended the ride for daylight, visibility, or safety reasons.
6. Weather Decisions Before Departure
If Englewood Jet Ski determines before departure that conditions are unsafe, the ride may be delayed, rescheduled, credited, or refunded depending on the situation.
- If a safe later time is available the same day, Englewood Jet Ski may offer a delayed departure.
- If the ride cannot safely operate that day, guests may choose to reschedule, receive a booking credit, or receive a refund to the original payment method.
- Refunds apply only when Englewood Jet Ski cancels the ride before departure due to unsafe weather or water conditions.
- Guests who choose not to ride when Englewood Jet Ski determines the ride is safe are subject to the standard cancellation policy.
7. Weather Decisions After Departure
If weather changes after the ride begins, Englewood Jet Ski may modify the route, reduce speed, pause the ride, return to the launch area, or end the ride early.
- If less than half of the scheduled ride time is completed and Englewood Jet Ski ends the ride early for unsafe weather, guests may receive a prorated booking credit or reschedule option.
- If half or more of the scheduled ride time is completed, the ride may be considered substantially completed.
- No refund or credit is owed when a ride ends early because a guest ignores safety instructions, leaves the approved area, rides recklessly, or delays return during changing weather.
- Englewood Jet Ski may decide the safest option is immediate return rather than waiting out weather on the water.
8. Guest Cancellations Because of Forecasts
Forecasts can change quickly in coastal Florida. A forecast showing a chance of rain or thunderstorms does not automatically mean a ride will be canceled.
- Guests should not assume their reservation is canceled unless Englewood Jet Ski confirms it.
- Guests are responsible for arriving on time unless Englewood Jet Ski gives different instructions.
- If weather is safe at the scheduled time and the guest does not arrive, the reservation may be treated as a late cancellation or no-show.
- If a guest is concerned about the forecast, the guest should contact Englewood Jet Ski before the reservation time.
9. Tropical Weather and Severe Weather Events
Tropical storms, hurricanes, storm surge, flooding, marine warnings, or other severe weather events may require schedule changes or full closure.
- Englewood Jet Ski may close operations before, during, or after severe weather to protect guests, staff, equipment, and property.
- Reservations affected by a closure may be rescheduled, credited, or refunded.
- Post-storm operations may be delayed until waterways, launch areas, docks, equipment, and routes are inspected and considered safe.
- Englewood Jet Ski may modify available routes after severe weather due to debris, damage, restricted access, or unsafe marine conditions.
10. Guided Tours and Route Changes
Guided tours may be modified when weather or water conditions make the original route unsuitable. A route change is not automatically a cancellation.
- The guide may choose a calmer or safer route.
- Wildlife, sandbar, sunset, shark tooth, island, or sightseeing stops may be adjusted or skipped for safety.
- Tour duration may be affected by weather delays, safe-speed requirements, or route changes.
- No wildlife sighting, sunset view, shelling result, shark tooth find, or route stop is guaranteed.
11. Late Arrivals During Weather Delays
Weather delays do not remove the guest’s responsibility to arrive on time unless Englewood Jet Ski gives updated arrival instructions.
- Guests should check messages, calls, and emails before leaving for their reservation.
- If Englewood Jet Ski provides a revised arrival time, guests should follow the updated time.
- If a guest arrives late and the remaining safe operating window is limited, ride time may be reduced.
- No refund is owed for lost time caused by guest lateness.
12. What Guests Should Bring for Weather Conditions
Guests should prepare for sun, wind, saltwater, spray, and changing weather.
- Wear clothing that can get wet.
- Use reef-safe sunscreen when possible.
- Bring a towel and a dry change of clothes.
- Secure hats, sunglasses, phones, keys, and loose personal items.
- Use a waterproof case for small valuables if bringing them on the water.
- Drink water before and after the ride, especially on hot days.
13. Staff and Guide Authority
Englewood Jet Ski staff and guides have final authority over weather-related safety decisions. Guests must follow all instructions immediately.
- Guests may not pressure staff or guides to operate in unsafe conditions.
- Guests may not continue riding after being instructed to stop, return, slow down, or leave the water.
- Failure to follow weather-related safety instructions may result in termination of the ride without refund.
- Unsafe conduct during changing weather may also result in responsibility for damage, rescue costs, or other consequences allowed by the rental agreement.
14. Questions About Weather Before Your Ride
If you have questions about weather, timing, ride conditions, or whether your reservation is still operating, contact Englewood Jet Ski before your scheduled arrival time.
